Ancient summer settlement, linked to the phenomenon of transhumance, the "Branda da Aveleira" is now a paradise village located at about 1000m altitude. Due to the cold climate in winter and spring, its peaks remain for long periods covered with snow, which has determined, for centuries, its inhabitants, a particular way of life.

In summer, when pastures were scarce for animals in the lowlands, given the occupation of grasslands and fields with other crops, pastoralists and their herds had to abandon lowland pastures and winter housing (the so-called invert ) and climbed into the mountains, then snow-free and with fresh pastures, where they occupied the summer residences on the mountain (the soft calls).
